History of rugs began long time ago. The first rugs were found in Egypt and are dating 15 – 16 year B.C. Later rugs appeared in everyday life of nomadic tribes in the East. From the first ages A. D. art of nomads start spreading west by the Great Silk Way. Later knights Were bringing rugs from the East after Crusades. Acquaintance of Europeans with this art lead to an active using of rugs in medieval interior. Vast halls of an ancient castles were covered by rough material and decorated by long ribbons of rugs. In some cases rugs divided big halls on a separate rooms. They were used as a mobile barriers, changing sizes and proportions of dwelling by the owner’s wish. Rugs were a facility to transformate space and make it Home. It saved warmth and decorated the walls. Household of nomadic tribes played a decisive role in this attitude. In European practice rugs became to perform function of “mobile frescos”. rugs were easy to move to roll, transfer from one interior to another and place on the walls of various proportions and outlines. | |||||
